How to Fish Volcano Walkthrough
Volcano is an endgame state chain: earn Fish Bucket, preserve the dead normal Bowhead Whale, trigger its mutation in Main Lava, claim the Whale Fin quest, then use the End Game interactable.
The Whale NPC quests, Main Lava conditions, Whale Fin source, final progression flag, and End Game interaction are confirmed by the current production data.

Reach Volcano
Complete the Island 4 unlock quest first.
- STEP 2
Bring any 5 Creatures
The Whale NPC preparation quest accepts any Creature ×5.
- STEP 3
Claim the reward
Collect Fish Bucket after quest 9949 is complete.
- STEP 4
Keep it for Bowhead Whale
Fish Bucket is the confirmed direct bait for this encounter.
02 · NORMAL WHALE · REQUIRED
Catch and Defeat Bowhead Whale
- STEP 1
Use Fish Bucket
Start the normal Bowhead Whale encounter with its direct route item.
- STEP 2
Defeat the whale
The body must be dead before Main Lava can accept it.
- STEP 3
Keep the body
Do not sell or discard the normal whale after the fight.
- STEP 4
Move to Main Lava
The dead body is the input for the mutation trigger.

What to Do After Bowhead Whale
CONFIRMED DEPENDENCY
DEAD WHALE → MAIN LAVA
Defeat the normal whale, keep its matching body, release it so it is not held, place it into Main Lava with no active Boss, and wait for the eruption sequence.

Spawn Mutated Bowhead Whale
- STEP 1
Use the dead normal whale
A live Boss creature is rejected.
- STEP 2
Release the body
Main Lava ignores an item that is still being held.
- STEP 3
Use Main Lava
The item ID must match the normal Bowhead Whale.
- STEP 4
Clear active Bosses
The spawn will not start while another Boss is active.
- STEP 5
Wait for the eruption
The trigger destroys the input body and begins a short spawn sequence.
- STEP 6
Confirm the mutated spawn
Only then move into the final encounter.

Collect Whale Fin
It is the confirmed progression drop from Mutated Bowhead Whale.
- STEP 2
Return to the Whale NPC
Give the NPC Whale Fin ×1 for quest 9950.
- STEP 3
Claim the completed quest
This sets the final-boss progression flag.
- STEP 4
Clear any active Boss
The final interaction is blocked while a Boss exists.
Boss defeated ≠ completion ready.
Whale Fin collection, quest turn-in, and quest claim are distinct required results.
06 · FINAL QUEST
Prepare to Return to the Mainland
Finish and claim the Whale NPC’s Whale Fin quest before looking for the final interaction. The quest sets the progression flag; it does not automatically finish the game.
